Blog News!

Posted by astuti at 12:04 PM 5 comments

I have made some much-required-changes in my blog. As you can immediately see- the design and over all look has changed. I was feeling particularly creative this last week, so I spent some time designing a header or what I like to call blog-logo. I also changed the basic template of this blog (and my others).

For sometime now, I have been feeling that I don’t receive too many feedbacks on things I write, so to help matters I have added the response tags in the end of all articles. You can now just click one of the three responses. Naturally please feel free to leave a comment if you want to say something else.

You will also notice some additions in the side gadgets. I am starting a new “Mood of the day!” column in my blog to try and express how I feel on the specific day. It shows the colour of my mood (Sadly its blue today) and the song of my mood (Yup its MLTR’s Complicated Heart). Also you’ll find towards the end “Funny things to ponder”. It’s really funny guys and changes often. At the risk of sounding pompous, I’d say check this out regularly. :)

Nothing else for now. I do hope to write more meaningful things going forward and not just things related to my own life. I’m trying to make this blog interesting- so any comments or suggestions to help improve are always welcome.

I Love the New Indian Ads :)

Posted by astuti at 2:13 PM 3 comments

I love the fact that Indian ads are going places... There was a time when our Ad-men, tried to grab customer attention by being the loudest, craziest or funniest. They tried Indian desipunn' (:)) or simply-roped in the celebrities and hoped for the best! But lately we are seeing some really neat ads- that our appreciated not just by our sense of humor but our intelligence too! These are smart ideas that are oh-so-bright, have loads of attitude and are kissingly simple! Not to forget refreshing and soooo cute!

Some on my favourite ads being currently aired are:

Vodafone's busy message caller tune- Simply cute and a lovely ad, this is an effective ad which passes the message- rock solid! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u2O9ok9Fz2A

Vodafone's Happy to help- Its a awww chooo chweet ad that has given rise to some really nice forwards and has the famous dog in it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lB1UPJ4leqs

Airtel broadband @ 16 mbps- Impatience is the new life! I lurve the copy in this ad. Has to be called brilliant. It defines today's youth precisely in their very-own-lingo! It has given Impatience a positive connotation in my mind- which is truly remarkable! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0vVIw81bws

The new Rin ad- where the kid turns at the older man who's smriking at him 'coz he's on a bicycle and says "do paiyon ka difference hain uncle; aa jayenge!" Is another of the ads I love. It's a supremely confident attitude that positively speaks "I'll be what I aspire to be!" Simply superb! (just cant find the link to it!)

Limca's 'Haseen Lamhon ko chura lo!' has become iconic in its freshness! It is so refreshing that a Non-Limca drinker like me is almost tempted to try the drink. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgT7ueACtxw

There is also Cadbury's Aaj ek tarik hain or Fruity's music ad, which is nicely done! Really fresh in idea and very Indian in concept!

I can go on and on... but I think I must stop now... Please share ads that you love and have been missed out by me! Would love to hear from you.

Maya Angelou's Phenomenal woman- A salute!

Posted by astuti at 3:22 PM 4 comments
A friend of mine mailed me a poem and I insantly fell in love with it. It's so beautiful that I just had to share it with you and add my little bit about how it made me feel.

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them, they think I'm telling lies.
I say,It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman, that's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman, that's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say, It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman, Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman, that's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say, It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman, Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman, that's me.
-Maya Angelou

I was highly inspired by the spirit of this poet. Ahhh, I can just see the positive energy that just reverberates from every word she writes; the smile that would touch the lips of every woman who ever reads it; and the simple agelessness of the poem. To leave a mark in the hearts of so many people with such simple words is an awe inspiring activity. Something that just doesn't come easy but when it does come, it's here to stay!

Anyone would love to be the phenomenal woman described in this poem and live a life- so full of life! A life full of passion and charm and self worth! A life where you are confident in your being. Where you are in love with just that- being so phenomenal inside!

It's a poem that leaves you feeling nice and happy and positive- it's truly phenomenal!
