Kasuali- Diwali Vacation... :)

Posted by astuti at 10:28 PM 0 comments

Ok! Ok!! I know it's been like forever since my last post... Am not goin 2 give any xcuses! :) Lots of thing happened since then but if anyone asks me "What's up?"my standard anyswer is "nothing much!" lol...
So what are these thing that have been happening huh? For starters I went to Kasauli for my diwali holidays with my hubby (ofcourse!) and some of our cousins... It was gr8 fun! Some lovely photographs and lovelier memories prove it... For those of u who are wondering wer exactly this is... it's a hill station very near Shimla. A completely beautiful place quite untouched by tourism. We stayed in a beautiful guest house that belongs to American Express. (No i haven't changed my job...my cuz works ther) It was freakin cold and this was even b4 the dilli ki sardi, meaning winters was here, so u could just imagine! But we had loads of fun neverthless.

Apart from that I have been part of opening of two other stores... Shoppers Stop @ Saket and Homestop. I am becomin quite a pro at it (though i say it moiself).

I have watched zillions of movies... well not that many actually... but the ones that stand out are Jab we Met and Aaja Nachle... For those who haven't seen either yet, "What are you doin reading this, It's gud... Go watch it!"

More recently i have been busy with Xmas setup in the store and I want to scream and tell "Ahoy everybody... it's is fabulous! go see it!" (Gawd aint i becoming dictorial?) But seriously, a lot of us have done a lot of work and it's time u guys out ther appreciate the work that's been put into it! Any appreciation whatsoever... can i start hearing some? :P

So what next u might ask? Going to chennai next week for my exams... It's goin 2 be a two week holiday. Will be ther for new years... lookin forward to another break (aint I always?)... Nothing much more...:) Will update next wen more things happen... Until then have fun! :)

Numbness...!

Posted by astuti at 7:01 AM 0 comments
I have been having this urge to write forever... write what you might ask? honestly i donno yet... ther are many topics that come to mind! my feelings about my Oh-so-awesome job!(yea i am being sarcy); the 20-20 match that we won(i decided against that one when i saw every1 had an opinion abt it!); the really nice Reliance ad(i'll write another blog about it, it's really cute); my VLCC regime(my new health mantra) or my never ending issues in life(no point even goin ther!)! but today i am in mood for something more general... I want to write about what keeps me ticking'! Ahaaa! that's a new one...!
At first ther was this urge to grow... the ambition to be someone important! this unspoken need to make a mark and have people look up to you...! then came the feeling of dissatisfaction... wer am i going? is this what i set up to do? is this all i'll ever do! why is life becomin more and more complicated wen all i want is some clear thinkin...! I am in the third stage now... have all the above feelings but ther's this numbness...I am completely numb or passionless, it's like sum1's squeezed it all out of me! the passion for my job, the feeling of excitement, the crave for doin sumthing new! man at 24 that's scary!!! But if i am honest i dont wanna take the trouble to do anything! i want gud things to happen 2 me (pssst! doesn't every1)... get a promotion; get all the health complications out; have a clear way to move ahead but without movin my oh-so-huge- butt(Hence the VLCC)..! without doing anything myself! Ahh this is wer god comes in, isn't it?Or are all the motivational quotes we hear not true? 'coz haven't we heard "n" number of motivating quotes whose sole intention is to make you feel better wen u r low? Who writes these motivating quotes i wonder... someone equally pissed with life(one has to feel it herself to get the feeling right nah!) but then aren't they being hypocrites..? i mean "i can feel this way but now i think u shudn't... and i am writing a quote so you dont feel it!" bahhhhhhhhh so hypocritical!
life is a bitch guys! and who ever says it isn't is either on a really high dope or hasn't yet opened her eyes to the real thing!
Now wasn't I goin 2 write about "What keeps me tickin...!" Topic for another day I guess...!

POP Asia- An Article on our Victory

There it was the announcement- “And the award for the Best Window presentation of the year goes to…” and all our hearts went thud… thud… “Shoppers’ Stop” she continued and we screamed like there was no tomorrow…

Oh didn’t I start at the very beginning? Sorry my mistake! Well well what was the beginning I wonder!!! Philosophically I could say the day I walked into Shoppers’ Stop for my interview, traditionally I could begin with the day we did up the do your denim window or practically I could begin with the “POP Asia”.

But do I want to be practical? Nope. We have just won the “Best window design of the year” so pardon us for not being practical…

A little about the window… It was May last year; all of us had gotten together in Mumbai for the Annual VM Meet when we were shown the next changeover… Do your Denim festival was quite literally one of the most amazing fun window we had ever done up! The Reason- We had to do every thing ourselves… From doing Graffiti in the background, to painting the corrugated tins, it was quite simply “our very own baby”. It screamed FUN! FUN!! AND MORE FUN!!! It was quite an exhilaration that hit the Visual Merchandiser’s of the whole country!

The praises started pouring in as soon as the displays were done! Oh and did they pour! While we had customers walking in appreciating the windows, we had operations guys pouring praises for the response that the festival was getting! It was a SUCCESS with a big “S”,

So it was but natural that we win an award for something that spelled FUN and still leaves us with a smile when we think about it!

The “D” Day: We dressed for the day 2 of POP Asia. There were a lot of eminent speakers making a presentation on that day some of whom included- Linda Cahan, Andrew Levermore, and Peter Reynolds, so on and so forth… It was an important day award or no award… When the presentations ended and the awards began we waited with patience for our turn in the limelight… and that’s when we heard the statement “And the award for the Best Window presentation of the year goes to…” and all our hearts went thud thud… “Shoppers’ Stop” she continued and we screamed like there was no tomorrow…

The award is one of 24 given by POP Asia, India's only exclusive forum for the Marketing-at-Retail industry. The recognition honors outstanding design contributions to the Indian retail industry. The award ceremony was held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. On stage to collect the award were Paul Ancheta and Neha Suchak, who designed the winning display theme. "This is a fantastic encouragement to the industry," Paul said. "It goes to the whole VM team!"…

And isn’t that a good way to remember the year gone by??? I think so…
